Port Page Turners: Unearth a Story – Desentierra una Historia
We invite readers of ALL ages to “Unearth a Story/Desentierra una Historia” with us! Whether you’re digging into a good book, uncovering hidden histories, or exploring the past, discover the joy that reading brings. Everyone has stories waiting to be found and shared—embark on a journey this summer through reading and special events!
How our Summer Reading Challenge works:
Readers of ALL ages (yep that means 0-100+), are invited to read, log their minutes, and earn prizes!
- Register in-person at the library, starting June 6 (you may register anytime throughout the summer, June 6 – Aug 8)
- Read (or be read to) any book or audiobook you want
- Log your minutes on a paper reading log (use one of our logs provided or create your own)
- Earn rewards when you register and for each 100 minutes read. Reaching 600 minutes means you’ve completed our Summer Reading Challenge – hooray!
- Anything is fossil-ble! Readers who go above & beyond will get an extra prize drawing ticket for every 100 minutes they read. There will be a prize drawing for 700-900 minute readers and 1000+ minute readers.

Kickoff Party! Sat, June 6 @ 10am-12pm (all ages)
Join us for the start of our Summer Reading fun! Stop by to get registered; add your dino design to the windows on the front of the library; say hi to Booker the Library Dog; enjoy an ice cream treat; and learn about the life of a paleontologist with the Dinosaur Discovery Museum! (Life of a Paleontologist program starts at 11am).

Congratulations! Readers who complete 600 minutes this summer and pick up their Golden Ticket before August 14 are invited to our Golden Ticket Pool Party! Enjoy a fun time in the water plus say hi to Booker the Library Dog. The Golden Ticket is good for free entry to the Pool Party at Pirates’ Hollow Community Waterpark. If you didn’t get a ticket, the pool is still open to anyone at normal admission costs.
