Story Walk: I'm So Glad You're Here

Celebrate National Library Week April 19-25, 2026, with the theme “Find Your Joy” and Honorary Chair Mychal Threets! Take a walk down Grand Ave to see the story walk of the brand new book, I'm So Glad You're Here by Mychal Threets on the library lawn.  Dubbed "the Internet's librarian"— and now host of the relaunched Reading Rainbow — Mychal Threets invites all to take a look and find themselves at the library! Perfect for little readers who are regular visitors and those who might be stepping into the stacks for the first time.Welcome to the library! It’s a place just for you! There are activities, movies, games, and SO. MANY. STORIES. Best of all, it’s a place where you will always belong. Take a tour of the library with the internet’s favorite librarian, Mychal Threets! This heartwarming debut picture book from Mychal extends an invitation to anyone who could use a little library joy and a reminder that libraries are for everyone. Bank Swallows Screening & Nature Crafts

During our annual Native Tree Giveaway with the Lake Michigan Bird Observatory, view Beyond Our Senses: Bank Swallows, a 27-minute nature documentary by filmmaker David Busse exploring the lives and hidden sensory world of Bank Swallows. On loop in the Library Community Room during the event. During the video, craft with librarian Alyssa to make beaded flowers and succulents!

Native Tree Giveaway

Celebrate Earth Day & Arbor Day by adopting a native tree for your yard! Available sapling species are: bur oak, red ok, swamp white oak, red maple, arrowwod viburnum, black chokeberry, american filbert, eastern redbud, and american plum. Trees are 2-3 years old & 1-2 feet tall. Pick-up your tree at the library in the morning!
